Geoscope

GEOSCOPE-WEB (Restricted Access) software controls and monitors instrumentation networks.

The software is highly versatile and can be used for collecting data for monitoring a variety of sites or applications: construction, environmental, long-term monitoring of structural behaviour, etc.

GEOSCOPE-WEB (Restricted Access) is well suited to sites of any size:
From small sites, with only one data acquisition unit,
To very large sites, spreading over several kilometres, such as a new subway line, where several acquisition units are linked.

GEOSCOPE-WEB (Restricted Access) fully integrates the concepts of Internet communications and can be characterized by 3 keywords:

  • REAL TIME: every piece of information can be displayed rapidly and efficiently over the Internet, and alarms can quickly be calculated and dispatched through the Internet
  • INTERNET: every partner in the project can be located in a different place, even very far away from the site itself, and every important function can be executed through common internet navigation software (Internet Explorer, Netscape) in the same way as on local work stations.
  • GIS (Geographical Information System): all data are stored in a comprehensive data base system and related to its spatial position (X, Y, Z). Maps are used to navigate through the data base and obtain concise views of the deformations and alarms.

GW ACQUISITION
This module organizes data acquisition on the site and integrates acquisitions from various systems:
  • Optical fibre logging units;
  • Conventional logging units from the market (example : Campbell Datalogger);
  • Specific logging units attached to total stations such as CYCLOPS
  • Manual introduction (ie: manual survey, manual readings of specific sensors).
    This module performs all calculations necessary for signal calibration and filtering. It also performs all calculations to monitor alarm levels. The users define the critical values that trip the alarms, which provide immediate notification if a parameter is reached.

GW ALARM
This module acts upon alarm conditions detected by ACQUISITION.
Actions can involve many responses, such as:
  • sending a message, a fax, an e-mail
  • displaying alarms on the alarm zone.
Alarm conditions are all displayed on supervision screens. The software also keeps a diary of these alerts and of subsequent actions taken by the user.

GW VISUALISATION
This module displays all information on the site either in local mode or in a remote mode via the Internet on a Geographical Information System. Features and capabilities include:
  • Zoom in / zoom out on a given section of the site,
  • Navigation through a view with up/down and left/right arrows,
  • Definition of several views of the site, with possibility to switch rapidly between views, each view being made of a set of layers which can be interactively shown or hidden,
  • Graphic background of different types: image, drawing, etc.
  • Display of sensor value graphs, activated by clicking on sensor images,
  • Display of multiple graphs simultaneously,
  • Large array of possibilities for configuration of each view including – number and type of sensors, and configuration of the corresponding icons.
  • Display of alarms
GW INFOCENTRE
All data collected by the system are integrated in a powerful data base system.
The INFOCENTRE module automates the creation of report in the format, which the user defines. The following processes are all executed automatically for the creation of a report:
  • the relevant data are extracted from the data base;
  • the data are processed and necessary calculations are performed;
  • the report is formatted with a the data in the form of a graph, a table, etc. A title, logo, legend, date, etc. are included.

A replication process takes care of the transmission of data between remote and local database via the internet.
