Automatic measurement and real time monitoring

SolData’s core business is measurement, acquisition, communication and real time display of parameters. We refer to these techniques as “real time monitoring”.

Since 1993 SolData has used, maintained, and developed the software known as GEOSCOPE. GEOSCOPE has been successfully utilised in some of the largest real time monitoring sites around the World. This software, combined with the latest information technology, high-performance sensors and our automatic measurement modules (CYCLOPS, CENTAUR, GORGON, ICARE…), allows the development of measurement acquisition networks from very simple projects to very complex sites (ANDRA deep laboratory, Line 9 of 40 km long Barcelona underground , Plavinas Dam in Latvia).

Enabling our expertise to broaden further:

  • Electric sensors and metrology
SolData select, test and use an extensive range of sensors. Almost every physical parameter can be measured with specific sensors. SolData are renowned for the expertise in the selection, installation and maintenance of sensors, such as:

Vibrating wire sensors (simple or double), optical fibre sensors (long base, interferometric or with Bragg networks), potentiometric sensors, magneto-resistive, electrolytic, capacitive, etc.
  • Automatic topography and scanners
With over 540 CYCLOPS and CENTAUR, SolData are the world largest user of theodolites, laser trackers and automated scanners. In partnership with IGN, we have developed modules able to measure night and day the position of points or to quantify in real time surface deformations.
Our expertise also covers the choice of equipment (we use many different devices from stringently selected suppliers), the carrying out of real time topographic networks, the implementation of urban or industrial networks, the configuration and maintenance of the measurement network.
  • Real time vibration and acoustics
The measurement of sound pressure, particle velocity and structural oscillation is a core part of our armoury of expertise. Due to our understanding within the information technology field, we have been able to implement innovative techniques that allow the mapping and analysis in real time as acoustic and seismic parameters develop.
  • Information technology and software
Often, the key to a successful monitoring regime is the immediate availability of results. For this reason it has been necessary to attain an extensive knowledge in the field of information technology: digitalisation, cable and optical fibre transmission, radio networks, computer networks, Internet, satellite transmission, secured computer developments, acquisition, database, transmission through ad hoc protocols, real time displays, geographic information systems, three-dimensional displays.
