Areas of experience
Railways
Geotechnical risks or ageing buildings lead us to be frequently involved on railways works. Our expertise includes an extensive knowledge of railways safety regulations, usual access requirements, obligations regarding admissible slopes and calibres, etc. We mainly work on:
Construction of new lines:
SolData Group carries out geophysical explorations along the new lines: power management panels and microgravimetry maps enable to establish profiles and reduce the number of exploratory drillings. In addition, the electrical cylinder CYLINDRE ÉLECTRIQUE® provides an optimal operation of the drillings.
We also operate during the works to monitor and follow up embankments, underground works, tunnels and occupation crossings (settlement gauges, extensometers, clinometers, topography, levelling, convergences, etc.).
Works nearby the tracks:
The excavation of new networks by directional drillings or tunnel-boring machines, the excavation of new traffic lanes or the carrying out of nearby digs put in danger and disturb the operation of railways. SolData acquired an extensive experience in real time monitoring of railways and rail works during the works.

The use of CYCLOPS and CENTAUR, the implementation of authorized specific sensors and our experience in installing fast and reliable alarm systems though GEOSCOPE help us to obtain and keep the confidence of large railway authorities.
Monitoring of works:
Ageing tunnels and structures lead to the implementation of monitoring and control policies, for which SolData offers adapted tools and services. Specialized in ground penetration radars, we are also involved in the diagnosis of engineering structures. We implement automatic monitoring systems (stress gauges, crackmeters, inclinometers, extensometers, piezometers, hydrological and meteorological sensors), we maintain, collect and provide data.

We also provide a unique service of large scale satellite railway monitoring thanks to ICARE ®. This service enables to monitor underground works and railways settlings and to focus topographic monitoring on sensitive structures. ICARE has been the subject of conclusive blind tests carried out by the SCNF (French Railways Board) in 2005. ICARE is also used on various urban sites (Barcelona metro, 40km, Budapest metro, 7 km) to monitor the settlements related to new tunnels diggings.
