Vibratory monitoring in Modane

As part of the construction of the Modane reconnaissance gallery, the blasting undertaken by the contractor seemed to have an effect on the buildings located 450m away from the front of the construction site.
Lyon Turin Ferroviaire SAS required certain buildings to be fitted with vibratory measurement equipment in order to assess and control these vibrations. Controls are carried out by measuring peak levels of the particular velocity of the vibrations.

Sol Data, in partnership with E.D.G., has assessed a number of vibratory measurement points, as well as their location, following instructions laid out in the « Guide for the measurement and control of the effect of vibrations on buildings » from the 3rd AFTES* workgroup.

The geophones were placed in order to allow the determination of the law of propagation (according to AFTES’ 3rd WG)

We have installed a GSM modem connection with the Gorgone in order to:
- collect remote data,
- be informed of any particular event by SMS.
